If you dial back the clock to around twenty years or so then suddenly fast forward to today, you’ll be staring at completely different technological strata. That is how much our technology—specifically digital technology—has changed how we do things. There are a lot of people that do believe that not much has changed.
We’re here to say that we were once one of those people. Our views have significantly changed since then. In light of that, we wanted to share with you guys two of the biggest ways that digital technology has really changed for us.
Communication
Communication used to be a lot slower back then. People either had to write letters and have someone they know deliver it. Once the post office was established, people relied on them to deliver messages. When the telephone was invented, people had to time their calls to make sure that the one they wanted to reach was there.
They could try to leave a message but human errors factored into it. The message could be forgotten altogether. In today’s digital world, everything is so much faster. You can send a message online to someone halfway across the world and they’ll get it a few seconds later.
If they happen to be out, the message will be there waiting for them.
Commerce
The realm of business and commerce changed significantly when the digital age struck. Businesses were no longer reliant on physical employees. They could now hire people from different countries to do tasks and completion was done online as well.
This helped to lower overhead costs and provided better opportunities for a wider array of individuals.
Going Forward
It is wholly understandable if you end up feeling lost or unable to keep up. We’ve been through that as well. What will make a clear difference will be what you choose to do now that you’ve realized that there have been some significant changes to the way that the world works because of technology.
What particular piece of technology did you see have a drastic change on things? How exactly did the technology change it?
